BIOGRAPHY
Sally Shapcott is an award-winning director who began her career as a highly successful commercial photographer after studying fine arts photography.
Thanks to this background, Sally is an immensely observant director with a rare ability to portray the world with a charm that is crisp, beautiful and ordered, yet honest and seeped in realism.
Sally has a knack for compiling tiny glimpses of daily life into commercials that paint a much bigger picture, creating narratives and characters from a montage of impeccably crafted scenes.
She is just as comfortable shooting 7-feet tall rugby players as she is a roomful of babies, and has consequently earned a reputation as one of Australia’s supreme performance directors. Evoking naturalistic and emotive performances from talent of all ages is Sally’s unique trademark.
Sally brings a photographer’s eye to each campaign, resulting in work that is stylishly composed and consistently charming. She has an ability to transform scripts into stories that convey the essence of a brand while entrancing the audience with characters they can relate to.
Sally shoots her subjects against evocative yet natural backgrounds, cleverly combining natural light and an eye for intimate detail. Her commercials are known for their texture and visual depth.
With extensive technical knowledge of the inner workings of the camera, Sally has shot distinctive campaigns for clients including Nokia, Bank of New Zealand, Visa, Berlei, Panadol, Target and Mastercard for agencies including Lowe Worldwide, M&C Saatchi and Saatchi London.
Her photography was featured in the 2008 Kodak Salon ACMP Fuji Collection.
